Saccheen Laing is  a young Jamaican writer who lives to write poetry. She started out writing very young as a way to escape the harsh realities of the world around her. She fell in love with words and the adventures that they could take her on. She makes everyone equal and loved in her poetry. She creates the perfect world or she can highlight the negatives of the world. Her poetry tells the stories of the young in the world and I always hope that I will stir some form of emotion in my readers. Her  poetry books include Stripped Souls, The Poet's Escape, The Voice of Jamaica and Poetic Queens. She released her first Children's Book called The Curly Hair Club on December 24, 2017. The Curly Hair was created to encourage little girls to love their natural hair. This is the story of Carly’s journey to loving her hair and everything that comes with it. Little girls will find acceptance in this book and grow to love their hair as well. I hope after reading this book, it will encourage more love and acceptance of natural beauty. Nick Cannon and Rosario Dawson are famous names who have fell in love with her poetry and quotes and have shared their love for her work on their social media platforms. Since releasing her very first children's book late 2017, she has appeared on TVJ's Smile Jamaica and on RJR's Palav.

"Carly sat frustrated as her mother began the process of detangling her hair. “Ouch, Mummy! It hurts,” Carly shouted. Mommy continued to comb through the thick curly hair on Carly’s head. “I wish I had straight hair,” Carly mumbled."

"This is such a great book for young girls to feel comfortable in their own skin. The wording is really simple and easy for children to understand. Illustration is also commendable ! I recommend this book 100 %."- Kediecia Malcolm
